About Me LCDR Brent Helbig enlisted in the Navy in 1993 and immediately attended Intelligence Specialist “A” school followed by Imagery Interpreter “C” school. His enlisted tours include Fighter Squadron 211, where he conducted a WestPac deployment onboard the USS Nimitz; Joint Intelligence Command Pacific, where he was a Target Materials Compiler; and SEAL Team Eight, where he was selected for a Commissioning program. Graduated Officer Candidate School and completed Naval Intelligence Officers’ Basic Course in 2002. As an officer he has served as the N2 for Mine Countermeasures Squadron Three, which was responsible for clearing territorial waters at the beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom; N2 for Patrol and Reconnaissance Wing Five; Levant Section Chief and Executive Officer for the JIOCEUR Analytic Center, where he completed a six month NATO deployment to Kosovo; Deputy Fleet N2 for the Royal Australian Navy, as part of the Professional Exchange Program; MIOC-P Watch Captain for Commander Pacific Fleet; the Senior Watch Officer for the PACOM J2; Deputy N2 for the forward deployed CTF-70; and the Officer-In-Charge of NAVIFOR Fleet Intelligence Adaptive Force Det, San Diego. His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), the Joint Service Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy Commendation Award (two awards), Joint Service Achievement Medal, and Navy Achievement Medal (three awards).
